Overview

The Manager, Operational Excellence will implement process and initiatives to enhance cross-functional integration and help create a continuous improvement culture over the selected region. This position will lead business process improvements through the implementation of strategic initiatives supporting Young’s Market Co.’s Operations team. The position provides leadership on the full range of business, financial, technical and process improvement projects throughout Young’s Market Co. This includes focus on creating a work environment that engages employees at all levels in the business to help drive out waste, improve quality and simplify processes in an effort to continually reduce the total cost. Plays major role in developing the operations Annual and Strategic Plan by providing direct analysis and insight.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support for monthly performance and variance reports for all Operations Departments Develop production/capacity model and analysis for all facilities
  • Data collection and analysis to track and monitor financial impact of drivers and warehouse performance
  • Develop analytical tools and reports (e.g. staffing models, production rate models, procurement models, inventory models, metrics, KPI’s, etc.) in order to manage supply chain performance
  • Champion Operations support and training for WMS / ERP implementation
  • Communicate and coordinate as a WMS super users to standardize where applicable and implement enhancements
  • Provide ongoing technical and user support for all WMS users
  • Collaborate with IT to help drive existing WMS projects/improvements.
  • Interface with the IT for all operational procedural changes and enhancements as it applies to technologies in the DC’s (Computer hardware, scanning, networking, wireless and software application requirements.).
  • Work with equipment vendors and internal engineering and support groups to improve case picking and conveying process
  • Develop programs which improve customer service, employee productivity and value chain efficiencies
  • Translate Company business/financial strategy into operational goals with visible metrics
  • Provide analytical support for all cost reduction projects
  • Identify areas of opportunity using data collection and survey reporting methods in order to monitor and improve performance
  • Proactively identify cost reduction/performance improvement opportunities
  • Conduct root causes analysis of miss-picks, equipment and process mal-functions, breakage, and N.O.T (not on trucks) and provide recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: BS Degree in Engineering, Finance or Business required, MBA or MS strongly preferred

  • Seven to ten years’ experience in supply chain analysis in consumer product goods or distribution industry.
  • Strong planning, organization and analytical skills
  • Strong financial skills, conviction
    • Requires advanced knowledge of accounting, costing, budgeting and variance analysis
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
    • Advanced in Excel including VLOOKUP, building formulas, pivot tables & linking multiple worksheets

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. This position requires the ability to write reports, and procedure manuals.  This position also requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and outside contractors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals. This position requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This position further requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

  • Strong understanding of supply chain activities, particularly manufacturing and logistics
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work / influence business decisions on a cross-functional basis
  • Must have excellent communication skills / both formal and informal
  • Must possess exceptionally strong analytical and modeling skills for problem solving and decision making
  • Conduct feasibility studies: identify issues, define scope, gather essential data, model and analyze the activity and its financial metrics, develop recommendations, present results
  • Must possess continuous improvement mindset
