Overview

This position will be responsible for calling on large volume hotels and regional accounts based in San Francisco to maximize the entire YMCO Portfolio’s performance through effectively uncovering sales opportunities, identifying appropriate brands to satisfy customer needs and to deliver professional sales presentations.

They will report to the YMCO Director of Sales, work in conjunction with local YMCO and TEG division manager and along with the National/ Regional Accounts team in Northern California.

Responsibilities

  • Develops high impact sales presentations for hotel and regional account properties and annual concepts to implement wine programs.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in sales presentations to General Manager and Food and Beverage Directors for high profile hotel and regional accounts.
  • Analyze and Strategize opportunities for incremental wine & spirits business for entire YMCO portfolio.
  • Conduct & Coordinate staff training programs regarding YMCO portfolio including TEG, Craft, Sake, & Beer.
  • Meet with DOS, YMCO & TEG DM to develop pricing and sales strategy for Hotels and Regional Accounts.
  • Work with YMCO National/Regional accounts team coordinating Core Supplier brand strategies
  • Establish and cultivate productive supplier and customer’s key personnel relationships.
  • Attend and present at DOS Regional meetings
  • Understand the company’s business objectives, supplier’s brands and their positioning within the various demographics of the Hotel and Regional account units.
  • Effectively present the entire company portfolio and drive results of all company and supplier initiatives within assigned account(s).
  • Sell concepts and consult with the customer on strategies that will collectively enhance both business models.
  • Entertain and represent customers for local distillery and winery educational visits.
  • Attend winery meetings representing On Premise and Nor Cal Regional/ Hotel needs were applicable
  • Organize, analyze and communicate market information utilizing the appropriate technology and methods.
  • Communicate issues, opportunities and market intelligence with appropriate management through written, electronic and verbal means.
  • Work out of the San Francisco Office.
  • Attend all mandatory YMCO meetings and functions
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records for all assigned accounts.
  • Complete and submit prompt and accurate reports.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry
  • bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • excellent communication, negotiation and objection handling skills
  • proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance wine & spirits sales
  • above average wine knowledge, ultimately obtain ‘CSW’ Certification
  • effective coaching skills and experience preferred
  • proven track record of successful selling
  • ability to work with management, colleagues, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position will require the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. This position will also require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. This position will further require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position will require the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

 

REASONING ABILITY: This position will require the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. This position will also require the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and clean DMV record.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Have the knowledge and skills to utilize computer software programs for support in the sales effort.
  • Proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance wine and spirit sales.
  • Ability to work with management, colleagues, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level.
  • Ability to develop an effective partnership with all assigned accounts

  • Knowledge of Product Line: Knowledge of specific products and associated development process and strategy.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (These are required to perform the key responsibilities of the job with or without accommodations)

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Must be able to walk, stand, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch on a daily basis
  • Must be able to drive a reliable vehicle from account to account.
