  • Overview

    Receives callers and visitors at establishment, determines nature of business, directs callers and visitors to destination.  Controls will-call paperwork and performs cashiering functions when necessary.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Directs callers and visitors to destination and records name, time of call, nature of business, and person called upon.
    • Operates telephone switchboard to receive incoming and outgoing messages.
    • Insures visitors check in and sign the Visitor’s Log.
    • Collects and distributes mail and messages.
    • Handles will-call procedures with salespersons.
    • Performs cashiering function when necessary.
    • Handles processing of the daily deposits.
    • Performs a variety of clerical duties.

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
