  • Overview

    The Systems Engineer is responsible to manage and deliver stable, responsive service levels from network systems to both internal and external customers. This position is also responsible to enforce departmental standards and procedures including systems administration standards, architecture, and program documentation requirements by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist Network Infrastructure team with LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
    • Identify and report on network related problems.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all configurations related to the PC environment
    • Install, configure and support Windows client systems, business applications, anti-virus protection, email, and account administration.
    • PC/Mobile phone problem resolution, client operating system patches and software upgrades, and routine hardware configuration and repair.
    • Understand the OSI network model, especially Ethernet & TCP/IP
    • Desire and ability to learn new products/technologies and maintain industry knowledge
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent customer presentation skills
    • Previous responsibility for providing customer support
    • Implement, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 Active Directory (policies, permissions, security)
    • Establish and maintain network users, user environment, directories, and security.

     

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:

    • An Associate’s Degree or certificate from an accredited four-year college or university program.
    • 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience using TCP/IP-based services, including DNS.

     

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    This position will require the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. This position will require the ability to write reports, procedure manuals. This position will require the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    This position will require the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. This position will require the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    This position will require the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position will require the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Make sure the IT Systems in the LAN & WAN are up and running on a continual basis on Oahu and all outer islands and with connectivity to the CA systems.
    • Assist in house personnel with all PC issues to keep the workflow to the required level.
    • Maintain communications systems to an active status i.e. Phone system, cell phones & Audix System.
    • Monitor and maintain the Sales Department tools for order transmission (SFA devices)
    • Monitor and maintain the equipment in the Communications Room.
    • Assist with training and personnel instruction.
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask.

     

    CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

      • Current Microsoft MCSA or MCITP certification highly preferred and
    • Manufacturer’s certifications also highly desired (Microsoft, Symantec, Dell etc.).
