  • Overview

    Maximize supplier brand performance through assigned sales team by effectively coaching sales representatives to uncover opportunities, identify appropriate brands to satisfy customer needs and to deliver professional sales presentations. Establish, develop, and foster overall Young’s Market and Estate’s Group presence through activation within the high volume, highly rated (Michelin/Zagat/etc) on premise establishments within San Francisco. Become the preferred resource for these establishments for wine training, tasting, education and staff development.


    Sales – Market Managers are expected to have the ability to develop an effective partnership with accounts, thus increasing overall wine sales for the company. This objective can be met by executing the below activities.

    • Understand the processes, tools, techniques and theory behind selling the company’s products.
    • Have an extensive working knowledge of the company’s products.
    • Sell in concepts and consult with the customer on strategies that will collectively enhance both businesses.
    • Build relationships, and be the primary contact for the ultimate decision maker in assigned accounts.
    • Fully understand the individual business models for all assigned accounts including profit margins, revenue model, desired revenue targets and pour costs.
    • Maximize profitability for all parties involved and understand that all transactions must be profitable.


    Coaching – Market Managers are expected to plan time and activities to ensure achievement of company and supplier established goals and sales objectives within assigned area. This objective can be met by executing the below activities.

    • Work in conjunction with Division Manager, ADM, TEG Division Manager, TEG Account Managers, and Sales Representatives to ensure effective execution of distribution, wine list, wine-by-the-glass, catering, banquets, special events, and other opportunities.
    • Work side-by-side with Sales Representatives to help develop wine product knowledge and assist with wine presentations.
    • Conduct staff training and education in assigned area as needed.
    • Identify opportunities, develop and implement programs in accounts to increase wine sales.
    • Create customer business building concepts to increase company share and volume.
    • Coordinate multi-level, multi-department interface in larger properties various activities.
    • Effectively service and merchandise assigned accounts.
    • Coordinate & Cultivate various activities incorporating the top wine personalities within San Francisco; this can include but is not limited to the following: Tastings, Study Groups, Mentorship, Educational Days, Winery Trips, etc.


    Communication – Market Managers are expected to serve as information resources for, and conduits between, the field and the company’s management team and customers. This objective can be met by executing the below activities.

    • Communicate issues, opportunities and market intelligence with appropriate management through written, electronic and verbal means.
    • Clearly communicate “opportunities to buy” to all relevant customers.
    • Serve as the communication “hub” between all parties involved in servicing the account.
    • Accurately forecast and communicate inventory needs as needed for special and unique wine programs as they are secured.


    Qualified Candidates should possess:

    • 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry
    • Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and objection handling skills
    • Proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance wine sales
    • Above average wine knowledge required
    • Specialized wine certifications preferred (WSET, Society of Wine Educators, Court of Masters, etc.) Minimum of CSW or equivalent certification required.
    • Effective coaching skills and experience preferred
    • Proven track record of successful selling
    • Ability to work with management, colleagues, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level
