  • Overview

    To maximize YMCO Wine and Spirits portfolio’s performance through effectively coaching team’s Account Managers to uncover opportunities, identify appropriate brands to satisfy customer needs and to deliver professional sales presentations. They will also be called upon for Key Account selling as assigned by management.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Plan time and activities to ensure achievement of company and supplier established goals and sales objectives within assigned accounts.
    • Work in conjunction with teams District Managers and Sales Representatives to ensure effective execution of distribution, drink list, well, promotions, catering, banquets, special events, other opportunities and spirits education.
    • Develop monthly, weekly and daily written plans for execution.
    • Work side-by-side with Account Managers to help develop wine product knowledge and assist with wine presentations.
    • Conduct staff training and education in assigned area as needed.
    • Identify opportunities, develop and implement ‘Account Action Plans’.
    • Gain knowledge of key customer’s business operations and coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling the company’s products to each.
    • Create customer business building concepts to increase company share and volume.
    • Coordinate multi-level, multi-department interface in larger properties for various activities.
    • Effectively service and merchandise assigned accounts.
    • Be a part of activities within and around accounts (IE: committees, functions, charity events, etc.)
    • Extensive knowledge of the company’s products.
    • Sell concepts and consult with the customer on strategies that will collectively enhance both business models.
    • Build relationships, and being the primary contact for the ultimate decision maker in assigned accounts.
    • Key Account Managers are expected to serve as information resources for, and conduits between, the field and the company’s management by:
    • Maintain up-to-date, accurate territory and account records.
    • Submit prompt and accurate reports.
    • Follow company policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

    • 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry

     

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

     

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CSS/CSW certifications preferred and also must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and clean DMV record

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and leadership skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Ability to work with management, direct reports, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level
    • Proven track record of successful selling
    • Proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance wine sales
    • Ability to develop an effective partnership with accounts
    • The ability to train and develop assigned personnel

     

    Other Qualifications:

    Sales Tasks & Activities: Knowledge of processes, tools, techniques and theory behind selling the organization’s products or services.

     

    Knowledge of Customers & Sales Channels: Knowledge of specific customer’s business operations and ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling the organization’s products and services to each. Knowledge of and ability to utilize customer profile and information.

     

    Knowledge of Product Line: Knowledge of specific products and associated development process and strategy.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (These are required to perform the key responsibilities of the job with or without accommodations)

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
    • Must be able to walk, stand, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl on a daily basis
    • Must be able to drive a reliable vehicle from account to account
