  • Overview

    The Director, Sales Strategy & Planning role will be the key point person for the assigned client/supplier partner within the General Market Region assigned. This position also will work closely with Client Services and Commercialization to ensure that the communication is fluid between all stakeholders and our customers. The Director will develop targeted processes to track all key metrics, programs, and key strategic initiatives with these clients for our top customers and regions

    Responsibilities

    • Collaboration with Client, Customer, and Commercial teams to plan, develop and track key sales initiatives
    • Lead planning of key supplier brands by reviewing volume by channel 90-120 days out to build strategies and programs to achieve supplier goals
    • Lead development of tracking tools (programming, funding, distribution) for assigned regions for SVP/CVP
    • Review syndicated data and BI tools for specific Clients and Customer Opportunities
    • Assist in development of Client reviews with Account teams and SVP/CVP
    • Develop and lead consistent process for regular communication with the client and internal Young’s stakeholders.
    • Providing specific and current information on client, market and customer sales and merchandising results and/or opportunities
    • Identify on an ongoing basis distribution gaps. Collaborate with SVP/CVP and other internal departments to develop a customer strategy to overcome issues.
    • Work with Commercialization/Client services/ to develop annual plans supporting aligned goals for specific channels
    • Formulate recommendations that will strengthen the sales and merchandising results for client brands by channel
    • Ensure that the communication is clear and concise so that all stakeholders have the necessary information to make decisions and execute
    • Providing leadership, guidance and support needed to attain the commitment and motivation of the entire department/organization
    • Conducting meetings as needed to effectively communicate objectives, programs, strategies, policies and procedures and tools available
    • Maintaining and developing positive business relationships with clients, customers, and internal stakeholders including providing them with requested business information.
    • Analyze and determine goal progress reports and give input on gap mitigation
    • Additional duties may be assigned

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.

    • Eight to ten years of equivalent experience in a sales/planning/customer leadership role

     

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.  This position also requires the ability to effectively present information to top management, groups of managers, and customers.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  This position also requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and leadership skills.
    • Proven track record of successful sales and management skills.
    • Above Average skills with Microsoft Power point, Excel and Word Office environment.
    • Ability to work with management, direct reports, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level.
    • The ability to train and develop assigned personnel.
