  • Overview

    This role supports the Pacific NW HR function and business in all areas of employment and employee relations.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Oversees, records, tracks, compiles and consults on various information which includes personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, termination data, etc.
    • Conduct investigational interviews of employee complaints individually or in collaboration with the HR Director.
    • Lead new hire orientation and related onboarding activities.
    • Coordinates and tracks training, certification and other professional development programs.
    • Responsible for completing I-9 information for new hires in compliance with regulations.
    • Compiles data from various areas to prepare reports related to, performance management and other people strategies.
    • Answers general benefit and company policy questions, assists in solving general problems.
    • Supports employee records maintenance in line with company policies and government regulations.
    • Retains records in line with company record retention requirements.
    • Assists with the coordination of special projects and events, including benefits open enrollment, recognition events, performance appraisals, training, Best in the West ceremonies and the like.
    • Handles highly confidential information in a professional manner, ensures employee privacy is respected and company confidentially regarding information is not breached. Manages difficult or emotional employee situations. Responds in a timely manner to employee needs and requests for service and assistance and acts as a change agent whenever needed.
    • Contributes to building a positive team spirit, works effectively with others, and builds cohesive relationships.
    • Interacts well with all levels of management, vendors and employees.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy; shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
    • Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically maintains employee’s privacy, works within legal and company parameters.

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:

     

    • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred and/or 3-5 years of experience in the HR field.  
    • Basic understanding of HR law, policies, procedures and practices
    • A moderate understanding of relational databases, HRIS
    • Strong Excel skills a requirement

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Writes clearly and informatively and is able to read, edit and interpret basic written information.  Able to craft and deliver live presentations to clearly convey information and concepts.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, and percentages.  This position also requires the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.  Strong use of Excel.

     

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished (in written, oral, or diagram form) and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  PHR (Professional in Human Resources certification)

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Advanced MS Office skills
    • Ability to prioritize and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, shows good judgment
    • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
    • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction, take feedback and apply it
    • Commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
    • Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
