    The Benefits Analyst is a key member of the Benefits team, assisting with the daily administration of the company’s Health & Welfare programs, company 401(k) Savings plan, union 401(k) Savings plan, Retirement Income Plan (frozen pension), deferred salary and bonus plans, and wellness program.  In addition, this position will partner closely with the HR Service Center and serve as the subject matter expert in resolving complex employee benefit and retirement inquiries. 


    • Partner with the HR Service Center in researching and resolving complex employee inquiries while providing excellent customer service.
    • Educate employees, internal and external partners on benefit programs, eligibility, and continuation of benefits through meetings and/or preparing written and graphic announcements and explanations.
    • Act as a liaison between HR Service Center and employees with third party vendors to research and resolve complex benefit and retirement inquiries.
    • Escalate employee issues to management in a timely manner.
    • Administer and maintain the Health & Welfare program to include but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and voluntary benefit plans.
    • Maintain the benefit enrollment system to ensure accurate benefit enrollment, and processing employee transactions in a timely manner.
    • Reconcile weekly discrepancy reports from third party vendors after file integrations have been processed.
    • Partner with the Benefits Manager to help facilitate the launch and maintenance of the annual Benefit Open Enrollment. Includes but is not limited to configuration and testing of benefit enrollment system, reviewing communications materials and facilitating meetings, if required.
    • Reconcile and process all Health & Welfare invoices for payment and to ensure eligibility accuracy.
    • Reconcile benefit payments for new hires, eligibility changes, and employees on leave of absence to ensure all payments are collected. Partner with the Payroll department to adjust employee benefit payments as needed.
    • Administer and maintain benefit payments and eligibility for employees on a leave of absence (LOA).
    • Respond to and process Qualified Medical Support Court Orders (QMSCO).
    • Administer and maintain the 401(k) savings plan to include but is not limited to participant enrollment, processing weekly deferral contribution changes, loan repayment changes, and distributions from the plan.
    • Assist in the annual 401(k) participant audit with the plan administrator.
    • Assist with periodic audits of the 401(k) plan to ensure systems synchronization on eligibility, deferrals, and loan repayments.
    • Administer and maintain the Retirement Income Plan (frozen pension) to include but is not limited to preparing benefit election packages for retirees, issuing participant estimates, and determining eligibility.
    • Assist with the development, administration, and promotion of the Wellbeing Program.
    • Create and maintain excel spreadsheet to track all benefit department expenses.
    • Create and maintain departmental workflow process documents.
    • Assist with maintaining compliance with all local regulatory and reporting obligations.
    • Assist in the annual launch and administration of the Adrienne and Vernon O. Underwood Scholarship Program.
    • Support the Manager of Benefits with projects as needed.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned.


    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years of progressive experience with developing, selecting, launching, and administering benefit programs, ideally in a high-growth, scaling, technology environment.
    • Prior project management experience desired.
    • Proficient with HRIS systems; Workday experience preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel VLOOKUP formula and pivot tables.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills as they pertain to Benefits Programs and employee life-cycle.
    • Knowledge of ACA, HIPAA, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, and COBRA regulations.
    • PHR, CEBS, or similar certification a plus.
