  • Overview


    Assists in coordinating activities of the transportation department. Responsibilities include: Performing freight tender and analysis, maintaining contracted rates with carriers, creating daily inbound truck schedules, monitoring carrier on-time performance, import tracking and maintenance, customs entry auditing, duty and tax reporting, freight invoice auditing and claims processing. The Traffic & Logistics Administrator needs to maintain effective, professional communication between the Purchasing Department and the warehouses. Interfacing with outside vendors such as common carriers, freight forwarders, steamship lines and customs brokers is critical.





    • Interacts with buyers, third party shipping agents, truckers and suppliers in coordinating delivery of product.
    • Monitors and reports Domestic and Import Carriers Performance
    • Interacts with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Ocean Carriers and Drayage carriers.
    • Reviews and completes REI (Request for Entry Instructions) from Customs Broker. Audits Import documentation for correctness, matching entry information to purchase order information.
    • Maintains import order status reports.
    • Reviews customs entries and request corrections from our Customs Broker.
    • Audits ACH duty statements from our Customs Broker prior submitting to Accounts Payables.
    • Establish and monitor key transportation KPI’s to help to manage and improve the transportation supply chain workflows.

    Additional training and rotation may include:

    • Compiles and submits statewide US Customs deferred tax reports to Accounts Payables department prior to EFT payment.
    • Responds to bills issued by Customs, Customs inquiries, Customs Notice of Action, etc.
    • Audits freight invoices for correctness.
    • Resolves discrepancies with carriers.
    • Codes invoice with appropriate accounting GL Code.
    • Logs all coded invoices.
    • Requests invoicing for supplier bill backs on erroneous charges.
    • Compiles data and documents in preparing for filling loss and damages claims.
    • Request invoicing for loss and damage claims.
    • Maintains data, spreadsheets and files relating to loss and damage claims via EZClaim software.
    • Follows-up on claim payments and finalizes the claim process when claims have been paid.
    • May perform additional duties assigned.



    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 1-3 years’ experience in Traffic and logistics
    • Background in transportation industry including experience using Transportation/ Logistics Management system software is required.
    • Proficient Microsoft Office suite.  Specifically, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Building and maintaining carrier relationships
    • Communication of carrier expectations/requirements to the current and potential carrier base
    • Executing compliance
    • Basic knowledge of supply chain processes.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.


    • Advanced Degree in Supply Chain
    • CPG Experience
